Spring Home Checklist — 12 Small Jobs Worth Doing
1 May 2026 · 3 min read

Twelve quick wins that protect your Sussex home and save bigger bills later in the year.
Spring is the easiest time to look after a home — dry enough for external work, mild enough for paint, light enough for proper inspection. Twelve jobs we tackle on most spring list-days:
- Clear gutters and check downpipes for blockages.
- Check window cills for cracked filler and re-paint where needed.
- Re-seal the family bath if mould is creeping back.
- Bleed all radiators.
- Test smoke and CO alarms.
- Touch up scuffs around door frames and skirting.
- Ease any doors that catch — quick planer job.
- Check the loft hatch seal.
- Tighten loose handles and hinges across kitchen units.
- Replace any failing silicone around kitchen splashbacks.
- Check and oil garden gates and outside doors.
- Make a note of bigger jobs for autumn so they don't get forgotten.
We can do any of these as a single visit, or knock the whole list off in a single day for most homes. Just send us the list.
