Panelling & Fitted Furniture

Wall Panelling, Feature Walls, Fitted Wardrobes & IKEA Hacks

The jobs that change a room rather than just tidy it — panelled feature walls, built-in wardrobe solutions and IKEA units fitted so well they look bespoke.

Wall Panelling, Feature Walls, Fitted Wardrobes & IKEA Hacks

Panelling and fitted furniture are the two things that make a room look finished. Both live or die on the details: level battens, tight mitres, honest scribing against walls that are never quite square, and a paint finish that reads as part of the room. That's the work we do — carefully, on fixed prices, across Horsham and the surrounding villages.

Wall panelling & feature walls

Box and Shaker panelling behind a bed, half-height wainscoting with a dado rail down a hallway, vertical slat panelling in a living room, tongue-and-groove in a bathroom or board-and-batten in a nursery. We set out the panel spacing to suit your wall rather than a generic template, work neatly around sockets, switches and skirting, then fill, caulk, sand and paint so the finish is seamless. Colour-drenched feature walls — walls, panelling and woodwork all in one shade — are a favourite at the moment and we're happy to advise.

Bespoke & fitted wardrobes

Full bespoke isn't always the right spend. We build fitted wardrobe solutions that use solid carcasses with made-to-measure infill: panels scribed to the ceiling and walls, filler strips down the sides, plinths, cornices and painted doors. The result is a floor-to-ceiling run of storage with no dust-gathering gaps, at a sensible price. Alcove cupboards, media walls and window-seat storage work the same way.

IKEA hacks & fitted IKEA solutions

IKEA Pax, Billy, Besta and Metod units are excellent value and terrible at looking built-in on their own. We assemble, level and fix them properly, then add the bespoke layer: scribed fillers, ceiling infill panels, skirting returns, decorative moulding on plain doors, new handles and a sprayed or brushed paint finish. Most people who see the finished run assume it was made to measure.

Frequently asked questions

How much does wall panelling cost?+

It depends on the wall size and the style — a simple slat or box-panel feature wall behind a bed is a very different job to full-height panelling in a hallway with returns and sockets to work around. You get a fixed written price after we've seen photos or measured up.

What panelling styles do you fit?+

Box and Shaker panelling, half-height wainscoting with a dado rail, vertical slat panelling, tongue-and-groove, board-and-batten and picture-frame moulding. We can mock up the layout so you can see the proportions on your wall before we start.

Do you paint the panelling as well?+

Yes — filled, caulked, sanded and painted in your chosen colour so it looks like part of the wall rather than something stuck on top. Feature walls are usually finished in the same visit.

Can you build bespoke or fitted wardrobes?+

We build fitted wardrobe solutions around standard carcasses and made-to-measure panels — infill panels to the ceiling and walls, scribed fillers, plinths, cornices and painted doors, so a freestanding unit ends up looking properly built in.

What is an IKEA hack?+

Taking a well-priced IKEA unit — Pax wardrobes, Billy bookcases, Besta media units, Sektion/Metod cabinets — and building it into the room with bespoke trim, panelling, painted fronts and a scribed fit, so it looks bespoke at a fraction of the cost.

Do you assemble and fit IKEA furniture supplied by us?+

Either way. You can order the units yourself and we'll assemble, level, scribe and fix them, or we can advise on the right configuration first so nothing needs returning.
