Summer home maintenance checklist
Long, dry days are the right window for outdoor jobs and bigger repairs that need surfaces to stay dry. Most of these are quick — they just need a stretch of decent weather.

Use the dry weather while you have it.
Exterior repairs
- Repair any cracked or blown render and pointing
- Re-seal external silicone around windows, doors and meter boxes
- Repaint exterior timber — fascias, sills, garage doorsDry, warm weather gives the best finish.

Safety in the heat

- Lubricate all window and door locks

Decorating

- Fit blackout linings on bedrooms that overheat

Worth doing while the days are long.
Garden aesthetics
- Pressure-wash patios and paths
- Repaint or refresh garden furniture
- Tidy the bin store and recycling area
Inside refresh
- Wash curtains and blinds
- Vacuum mattresses and rotate them
- Clear out one cupboard or wardrobe per week
Future-proofing
